When you feel twisted and don't know up from down, sit in it anyway.
When you feel twisted and don't know up from down, sit in it anyway.
It's been 3 months since I was in this beautiful country. And with a little time I'm surprised by how much that country impacted me. It was so much harder for me to come home than I expected. So much of the way life is lived as a community resonated with me. The support mothers get especially. It really takes a village to raise your babies and despite the suffering and poverty I saw richness in their lives that we do not in the western world have. I know so many mommas (and dads for that matter) who are suffering quietly under the weight of feeling they are not enough. And I have felt sad for months about this disconnect. Reach out. Find your people. Find your village. Ask for help. How hard is asking for help? So hard some times. And yet there, women would hand their babies over to you and walk away and it wasn't always clear who the baby actually belonged to. They belonged to the village. So find your village and hold tight. That's what I learned. #liveintrepid

I am not a big fan of discussing my yoga practice. It's something I quietly dedicated myself to 12 years ago. It's the place I scratch the surface of my spirit and bang around trying to find the answers I don't know exist but I'm looking anyway. My mat is thick with sweat, blood and tears and sparkles from elodie's princess dress that refuse to shake loose. My practice is not filled with party tricks. I've struggled with some of the same poses for a decade and acknowledged my demons on the mat. Recently my practice has been a battle ground. And I have done everything to avoid seeing it. But then with a little help I surrendered somewhere and the pieces started coming together or falling apart. So that is what this shoot was about. Finding that balance asked of us. The push and pull of strength and softness. The ability to accept our shortcomings but acknowledge our limitless. Back and forth round and round. "Practice and all is coming.." Guruji

My most favourite time of day is sunrise. When the whole house is quiet and cool and the day is full of possibilities and maybe even a little magic.

Always be on the look out for the presence of wonder~ EB White. When I can slow down just enough to let all the extra noise fall away, I start to see that maybe the little people in my life have a better understanding of the beauty of the world. Maybe their a little closer to the heart of the matter. Following along as they lead us on a blind adventure I can see the magic of their childhood unfolding. Leaving seeds in their hearts, that will hopefully grow into something they can draw on when they need filling up.
